You know when you see on the news that the price of Bitcoin has broken a record and how the crowds on the internet are celebrating it? People think they have made it in life, defeated the system, and profited. But when you look a little closer, it is actually a heavy tragicomedy. That high price does not mean at all that these people have profited or gained some economic power; on the contrary, it shows just how much of that power they have voluntarily given up. It all comes down to the mechanism of leverage. When you own real estate, raw materials, or goods, you hold something that people need for biological and other necessities, so they have to come to you, negotiate, and offer you something in return. That is direct leverage over others, an economic power that ensures you will receive the goods or services you need from others tomorrow. Digital tools like operating systems and software have leverage through functionality, because without them, computers cannot work or automate tasks. Stocks and bonds hold leverage through legally enforceable claims against the assets of their issuers. Fiat money possesses leverage because it originates through a debt system, creating immense legal and existential pressure on debtors and states, who must obtain that exact money to avoid loss of assets and bankruptcy. In all these cases, what you hold gives you a direct instrument of compulsion to get what you need from others. When you give up any of that to 'enter' Bitcoin or crypto, you have actually sureb surrendered the economic power you held before. Whatever number is recorded on that famous blockchain, you have absolutely zero leverage over anyone. There is no biological or other need, no functional dependency, nor any legal debt mechanism that can force anyone in this world to give you a single cent for that entry, let alone anything more. Right there lies the deep tragicomedy of the entire crypto phenomenon. To enter crypto, people had to give up the only tool that gave them real-world leverage, receiving a record with zero leverage in return. When a stock price rises, shareholders celebrate because it implies that the real assets and earnings of the company over which they hold legal leverage are growing. They celebrate the growth of their economic power. The crypto crowd, on the other hand, celebrate an act in which someone else next in line has made an even greater sacrifice and given up even more economic power. The market price of Bitcoin is therefore not a monument to success, but a monument to collective economic self-disarmament. Those who celebrate the price rise are actually cheering for their own defeat and the fact that they have given up real-world leverage. The only real winners in this game are those who exited the system in time, taking all that gifted leverage in the form of real estate, commodities, stocks, digital tools, and fiat money, leaving the celebrants to celebrate numbers on a screen and play with colorful charts. -Software-41
