Parking uninvested cash in low yield (HYSA/T-Bills/CDs) until making strategy decisions

Wondering what a reasonable time frame is to have cash sitting in fixed income cash type accounts. My interpretation of fixed income accounts is HYSAs, CDs, T Bills. If the cash is a more significant amount, what would be an unreasonably long time frame to keep it in such account types that really only barely stay ahead of inflation?
