When do you hold off on investing? Is that time close?

Standard convention says go s&p all in, though I feel like the market is crazy overpriced and so many people at the low end of pay are struggling more than ever. It makes me wonder if s&p is really always the answer for long investments or if waiting in a high yield savings until the burst comes is better. Lets say I have 100k. Would the best bet be to hold it in a 4% apy account or dump all of it into the s&p today. Assume no debt issues, a savings net is held separately, the loss o
