If your goal is purely generating income and you don't intend to live in the property, why choose real estate over covered-call ETFs? Real estate has significant risks: changing tax laws, rent controls (as seen in Spain), maintenance costs, vacancies, and declining demand in tourist destinations. What's popular today might not be tomorrow. Covered-call ETFs also carry risks: distributions aren't guaranteed, capital can erode, and upside is limited. However, established funds have delivered relatively consistent distributions, while offering diversification, liquidity, and virtually no management hassle. Real estate can benefit from leverage and appreciation, but after accounting for all expenses and taxes, does it really offer a better risk-adjusted income stream? I'd be interested in hearing from people who have invested in both. And again focusing on real estate as income generation not to live in. -Staff9562
