Am I overthinking my finances and investment strategy?

I’m in my late 30s, originally from Southern Europe and currently living in Europe. I’ve been struggling with how much I obsess over money and investing. Since I started investing, I’ve been focused on optimizing everything and investing as much as possible. Whenever I receive my salary, I invest most of it and spend the rest. Only in the past couple of years have I started allowing myself to spend more, partly because my investment returns have begun to outpace my contributions. My portfolio is currently around $2.3M, held in a brokerage account in a country with no capital gains tax. I keep around 6–8 months of expenses in cash, which I’m waiting to invest if the market drops further. The rest is roughly 90% VT and 10% Bitcoin. Bitcoin is an old speculative position, and I try to keep it within a reasonable range through rebalancing. My annual spending is around $65–70k, including rent, insurance, bills and frequent travel. I could probably reduce that by 20–30% if I travelled less. My long-term goal is financial independence: having a portfolio that can cover my expenses without requiring me to work, while keeping up with inflation and ideally continuing to grow in real terms. I would also like to have more room in my budget for hobbies, travel, learning new skills and potentially sharing life with a partner. I’m not planning on having children, although I haven’t completely ruled it out. The thing is, I constantly find myself worrying about whether my portfolio is enough, whether I should be investing differently, and whether I’m adequately prepared for the future. I see how AI is disrupting the job market, and I no longer enjoy the corporate environment. I’d like the freedom to leave my current country and live on my own terms, potentially stopping work altogether. At the same time, I worry about economic crises, market crashes and worst-case scenarios. I keep thinking I need more money or a better investment strategy to feel secure, especially because I want my portfolio to support me for decades without eroding its purchasing power. I’ve tried different investment strategies in the past, including holding several ETFs, but I’ve found that keeping things simple helps me stay the course. My current portfolio is essentially one globally diversified equity ETF and Bitcoin as a speculative bet. I’d appreciate your thoughts on a few things: - Am I overthinking my finances and investment strategy, or are these concerns justified? - Is my current portfolio allocation sensible for someone aiming for long-term financial independence? - How should I think about balancing portfolio growth, sustainable withdrawals and protection against inflation? - How do you determine when your investment strategy is good enough and stop constantly looking for ways to optimize it? I follow communities like Bogleheads and dividend investing, so I’m familiar with different approaches. I’m mainly trying to understand whether I should be making changes to my finances and portfolio, or whether I’m simply struggling to feel secure despite constantly working towards that goal. I’d appreciate honest, practical feedback, especially from people who have faced similar dilemmas. -Staff9562
