Is keeping most of my freelance income in USDT a bad idea?

I’m a freelancer and receive most of my overseas income in USDT. I keep most of it in a hardware wallet instead of converting it to my local currency. The reason is that converting it creates a tax liability, while my local currency continues to lose value. So USDT feels like a way to preserve USD value.
