Moving my Roth off E*Trade: Fidelity vs Robinhood vs Schwab? I’m 29 and want to move my Roth off E*Trade, mainly because it doesn’t offer fractional shares in a Roth and I do not like the UI. I also have a Charles Schwab brokerage account I have not put any money into, and do not mind closing. Background: I contributed $9k over 3 years and grew it to $33k at the peak, mostly from PLTR APLD Rolls Royce and IONQ, as well as ABCL. I took profits and reinvested into tickers like ACHR, INFQ, JOBY, UMAC (good one for me), and various other pre-revenue companies. I invested in most of those end of 2025 and over a year it dropped to $20k. I sold everything a month ago and now hold $18,600 in cash, which seems like the easiest time to transfer. Plan: The Roth goes 60/40 VTI/VXUS (or the broker’s equivalent) and perhaps 10% AVUV, and I’ll max it every year. I also want a taxable account at the same broker for individual stocks, and maybe options in a few years. I also am interested in fun money being used to bet on elections, and stuff like with Kalshi, and I believe Robinhood may offer that (not in a Roth of course). But that is not a deal breaker. Options I’m weighing: Fidelity: fractional shares, 0% funds like FZROX, bonds and CDs for later, long track record. My gut says this is the one I’d stay with until retirement. Robinhood: 1% transfer match, plus a 3% contribution match with Gold ($5/mo, which I’m fine paying). The 5-year lock doesn’t bother me since I plan to stay put for 10+ years. I might get their 3% card eventually, but not yet. I also like their APY on cash sitting in investment accounts. That might be the deal breaker for me. Schwab: also open to it if compelling case for it in my scenario What I care about: a good UI, a trustworthy company, and real customer service when something goes wrong. Also the benefits and matches offered. Questions: What’s your experience with customer service and transfers at each one? Anything I’m missing about transferring a Roth out of E*Trade? For anyone who’s used Robinhood’s IRA match: any surprises with the clawback rules, like canceling Gold or transferring out? Does anyone split brokers, like the Roth at one for the match and the taxable account at another for tools? Schwab users: is the lack of fractional ETF shares a dealbreaker? I would love to be able to set auto allocate % to each fund or stock in my Roth. Any insight or advice or questions to think about would be greatly appreciated! Edit: Got 1 for Fidelity, 1 for Robinhood, and 1 for Charles Schwab. LOL!! If anyone can add the reasons they love their brokerage company would be dope!
