I have a loan of $700k, and enough cash to pay it off. The loan is 2.875% interest rate. My money market is 3.65% less .11% expense. I am struggling to find work and will be running out of unemployment benefits soon. My wife makes ~100k a year, we file jointly. I am taxed on the interest in money market. Seems like the best defensive investment would be to pay off the house? I would not take the cash out of the money market as I am risk averse and have about 500k already in stock via 401k. Thank
