Public told me this about custodial risk. Is it true? Accurate? Fair?

SIPC Concerns: Your assets are safe here, there is no risk to you in a Public insolvency because of our custodial structure, but there are a few things worth considering/understanding here: Your assets are custodied at Apex Clearing and fully segregated from both Apex's assets (and business) and Public's assets (and business). Simply put: if Public is bankrupt, there's no direct risk. If Apex is bankrupt, there's no direct risk. It would take both firms failing and some kind of fraud, illegal commingling of assets, or immense operational failure at Apex (in an amount that results in losses beyond their capital/equity/liquidity, which is more than $1B in total) for there to be any risk to your assets. You can review Apex's statement of financial condition here, but Apex has substantial excess capital/equity and available liquidity. In addition to additional SIPC coverage of $150M (more about that here). There's also more of a buffer than even that implies because both Public and Apex have parent companies and investors that would step in to preserve their equity value, in the event that there is a financial issue, etc. -Question538
