An interesting new asset linked to Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) might make its debut soon. On Oct. 19, BlackRock (NYSE: BLK) submitted filings to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) seeking permission to issue a new Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF), the iShares Bitcoin Managed Protection ETF, ticker PBIT. Unlike the asset manager's other Bitcoin ETF, the iShares Bitcoin Trust, the new one, if it's approved, is intended to soften Bitcoin's declines in exchange for capping its gains, according to the filing. But how would that work, and would it make the new ETF worth buying if the SEC gives BlackRock the go-ahead? Image source: Getty Images.
