Wolfspeed’s Latest Quarter: Progress, and a Long Way to Go

Wolfspeed (NYSE:WOLF) makes silicon carbide (SiC) chips, a tougher and more energy-efficient alternative to ordinary silicon. They matter for electric vehicles (EVs), industrial power systems, and now AI data centers. The company went through Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2025, and the old shareholders were nearly wiped out. The quarter reported on Nov. 4 is the latest test of whether the reborn company can become a real business. Revenue was $155 million, down from $196.8 million in the predecessor period. Fresh-start accounting makes that comparison imperfect, but the direction is not encouraging.
