It’s interesting to note that when someone says, buy VOO and chill… Do they know what’s really in VOO??? Why has VOO been performing so much better over the last 5 years? People have held the S & P index for years. They think that they’re diversified. If so, how diversified are they? The semiconductor sector has doubled within VOO over the last 5 years. It was 7-8 percent of VOO in November of 2021. Today it’s 14-15 percent. What’s changed? What sectors have been impacted? Healthcare is one and the other noticeable sector is consumer discretionary. Does that mean to be diversified, you need to add some XLV to your portfolio to even things out? Do you skip VOO and purchase RSP instead? The S & P has started to evolve into a baby VGT. I expect more volatility in VOO simply because it’s concentrated with semiconductor and tech companies… Maybe it’s time to rethink the S & P and what one holds in their portfolio???
