The S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC) has passed the 10% line three years running, and not by a little. Leaving out dividends and looking just at price, the index rose about 24% in 2023, about 23% the next year, and another 16% in 2025. And 2026 is on track to make it four. As I write, the index stands around 7,714, up almost 13% from its 2025 closing value of 6,845.50. It's also logged 28 record closes this year, most recently 7,818.93 on Oct. 6. That'd be a rare streak. Since 1929, the index has put together four straight double-digit years just three times, with the fourth gain coming in 1945, 1952, and 1998.
