I am planning to retire in mid 2027 (I am 64). I have a 401k with a quarter of a million in it. Our company is switching 401k companies with a blackout from 11/30/26 - lifting sometime around 1/2/27. They plan to liquidate our accounts on or around 11/27 or 11/30. My concern is the crazy fluctuation around the midterms and the potential missing recovery during a month long black out out of the market. I am wondering if I should consider an in-service distribution to an IRA prior to the blackout. I already have an IRA with our current 401k company. My 401k can remain active for future funding. Any thing that should be considered in this type of change?
