When the Social Security Administration announced in late 2025 that benefits would receive a 2.8% cost-of-living adjustment, or COLA, in 2026, many seniors were disappointed. And that sentiment was understandable. Prices were already quite high in late 2025, so it's natural that Social Security recipients wanted a larger increase to their benefits. Thankfully, the 2027 COLA is a big improvement over this year's 2.8% raise. Benefits will get a 3.6% increase in January, which will hopefully help seniors better keep up with their expenses.
