Today I got to know "Dividend" is not an extra amount.

I got an email form my Asset Management Company Saying Your got 26 rupees per unit.. when I calculated it for 566 units, I got 14716 Rs.. But later I came to know that this amount is deducted form my own investment while the NAV units remain the same . What was the benefits to me..?
